Latin Paradise on Pine Street

Mixto Restaurant
1141-43 Pine Street
Philadelphia, Pa 19107

Wouldn’t you love to be transported to a steamy and sensual Latin American country? Maybe taste the forbidden flavors of Cuba? Enjoy the playful palates of the feisty Caribbean?  Feel free to leave your passport at home and take a little walk down Pine Street.  You’ll stumble upon a beautiful, two-story brick building with glowing neon letters reading: MIXTO.  Welcome to your destination dinner.
Mixto is a fusion restaurant of all things Latin American, Cuban, and Caribbean.  With a large menu ranging from the familiar to the exotic, there is a bite for every fish in the sea.  Executive Chef, Freddy Mosquera, has beautifully created a menu of traditional Cuban paella, delicate Peruvian ceviche, and gorgeous Mediterranean fish dishes.  Hosting a wide selection of luxuriously selected meal cuts that are prepared with tender dedication, Mixto is perfect for the meat-lover.  Classically grilled and boldly marinated, Mosquera has certainly taken care in devising a menu for even the most inexperienced Latin American eater!

Boasting a large international wine list, Mixto is certainly a crowd-pleaser for the local Philadelphia wine-o.  They share a long list of sparkling cavas and brilliantly selected wines, perfect to partner any dish.  But don’t let the wine list fool you – Mixto also is home to an array of Latin American beers as well.  In a town where even the rivers seem to flow with malted brews, the beer connoisseurs will love trying the bold taste of Peruvian Cusquena and the iconic Dominican Presidente.  Stop in at happy hour and enjoy the refreshing mojitos and smart margaritas (grab some empanadas to share while you sip).
Sit outside and enjoy their luxurious island style ambiance or take your party inside for a dazzling scene of colors, music, and fragrant dishes moving past.  The mood is cool but lively.  Be it the plates passing by or the paintings lining the walls, the vibrant colors of Mitxo will hypnotize you into believing you are on far away from the roar of Philadelphia.  With lots of dark wood and greenery, you’re instantly transported to an island vacation.  Bold and sensual Latin music begins to pulse through you as you finish snappy drinks and elegant meals.  You’ll want to stroll along a sultry beach with Astrud Gilberto after your dining experience.  Feel fully bewitched as you meander into the misty Latin night.
